If you’re a professional photographer, fine-art print studio, or proofing specialist looking for a 44″ wide-format solution, Epson’s SureColor lineup offers two compelling options: the flagship P9570 and the slightly more affordable P9370. While both deliver excellent image quality and reliability, they differ in color capabilities, workflow benefits, and core technologies.

🎨 Color Gamut & Ink Technology

One of the biggest differences between these machines is the ink set — and that directly

impacts the gamut (the range of colors each printer can reproduce).

P9570 – UltraChrome PRO12 Ink:

The P9570 uses Epson’s newest 12-color UltraChrome PRO12 ink set with

dedicated channels for Orange and Green in addition to Violet and the usual photo and

matte blacks. This expanded palette gives it an exceptionally wide color gamut,

enabling higher fidelity printing closer to many professional proofing standards —

including coverage of about 99% of the PANTONE FORMULA GUIDE solid-coated

standard in many workflows. This makes it ideal for photographers and designers who

demand the most accurate, vibrant color reproduction possible.

P9370 – UltraChrome PRO10 Ink:

The P9370 comes with Epson’s 10-color UltraChrome PRO10 ink set, which includes

Violet but does not include the additional Orange and Green inks found in the PRO12

set. As a result, while the P9370 still delivers a very wide and expressive color gamut — its overall range is somewhat smaller than the P9570’s. For many fine art and photographic applications, this is more than enough, but proofing professionals may notice a difference where extreme accuracy matters.

Take a look at the visual difference in each printer's gamut below:

📏 SpectroProofer & Workflow Integration

Another major distinction is Spectroproofer support — the ability to automate color calibration and verification using an onboard spectrophotometer.

P9570:

Epson offers an optional Epson SpectroProofer® accessory for the P9570, which

integrates with third-party RIP and workflow software to automate color measurement, calibration, and contract proofing tasks. This is a key advantage for users who need

repeatable, reliable color in fine art printing or in professional proofing environments.

P9370:

The P9370 does not support the SpectroProofer® option, meaning that it lacks the same level of integrated hardware support for automated proof verification. For studios where precise color output is key, the P9570 the more workflow-ready choice.

 Performance & Features

Both printers share a number of strengths that make them excellent choices for high-end

imaging:

P9570 Highlights

●12-channel PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead with over 9,600 nozzles.

●No black-ink switching required, thanks to dedicated photo and matte black channels.

●Optional SpectroProofer support.

●Exceptional print permanence and fast output performance.

P9370 Highlights

●10-channel PrecisionCore printhead with dedicated black channels — no switching

between photo and matte blacks.

●Excellent color reproduction and fast, efficient workflow for photo and fine art media.

●A lower initial hardware cost compared to the P9570.

🖼 So Which One Should You Choose?

Choose the P9570 if you need:

○Maximum color gamut and proofing accuracy

SpectroProofer support for automated calibration

○Top-end performance for critical commercial and contract proofing

Choose the P9370 if you want:

○High-quality color output at a lower price point

○Robust and fast production for photography and fine art

○A simplified workflow without the need for integrated measuring

In short, the P9570 stands out for its expanded ink set, wider gamut, and proofing-ready

features, while the P9370 offers excellent quality and performance without some of the

higher-end bells and whistles — making it a great fit for many professional studios.
